Cricket: Black Caps train for World Cup final

The New Zealand Black Caps cricket team trained at the MCG cricket ground in Melbourne on March 27, 2015 in preparation for their showdown against fellow co-hosts Australia in the Cricket World Cup. This is New Zealand’s first World Cup final, after losing out in the semi-finals six times. The final will be played on March 29, 2015 at 2:30pm Melbourne time (2:30am GMT). More here

Track & Field: Athletes soar at IAAF Melbourne World Challenge

Olympic champions Sally Pearson and David Rudisha won their events — the 100-meter hurdles and 800-meter race respectively — and delighted fans of all ages at the IAAF Melbourne World Challenge March 21, 2015 at Lakeside Stadium.

At the event, several Australians met qualifying times or distances for major upcoming international events. More here

Melbourne: RAAF Roulettes refuel after Grand Prix performance

The RAAF Roulettes aerobatic team performed at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix in Melbourne before landing for a debrief and refuelling at Essendon airport, as pictured on March 12, 2015.

The six-aircraft formation flew directly to the display at Albert Park from their base at East Sale. More here

Melbourne: Avalon Airshow trade opening showcases best in aviation

The latest in the world’s best aviation hardware was exhibited at the trade opening of the Avalon Airshow on February 24, 2015 in Melbourne, Australia, which will open to the public on February 27 until March 1.

The international airshow will showcase both civilian and military aviation, paying tribute to Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) and other heroes of aviation. More here
